About: I can ramble about my work for hours, but you probably don't want to hear about that. Therefore, I'll be brief: I'm working on a PhD in Rhetoric with a minor in Linguistics. My focus is the rhetoric of warriors and kings in medieval Germanic cultures, specifically Viking Scandinavia and Anglo-Saxon England. I read Old English, Old Norse, Middle High German, Old Irish, Latin, and some Old French and Homeric Greek. Yeah, I'm a nerd in just about every sense. I was the kid who played Dungeons & Dragons, video games, read comic books and Tolkien, wished he were a Jedi, and argued ST: TOS v. TNG. I still do all of those things, but I try to keep myself from getting involved in forum wars. I have returned to World of Warcraft, and I also play Rift.
People who know me know that I have an Elf obsession. I love my Elves - especially the actual mythological versions of them from the Old Norse, Old English, and Finnish source material. I'm sure that choosing AelfricElf as a screen name gave that away, but it's true.
